"Valencian language: Genuineism and self-hatred" by Antoni Fontelles

In the first lecture of Module C of the Valencian Culture Course, the researcher Toni Fontelles will tackle a very topical topic in the field of the Valencian language: Genuineism and self-hatred.

The conference will take place this Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the GAV headquarters, at Calle Julián Peña, 3 de Valencia.

The speaker will analyze the new strategy of Catalan imperialism in its attempt to absorb the Valencian language within Catalan. In recent times some Catalan authors defend recovering and using the rich lexicon of the Valencian language, accepting it as correct, which breaks the trend so common for decades to reject the Valencian lexicon as "incorrect" or Castilian, banishing Valencian words for its corresponding in Spanish.
